Denver was still drunk on the success of the Democratic National Convention yesterday morning when suddenly, the party was over. Speculation that Alaska governor Sarah Palin would be the surprise pick for the Republican vice-presidential nomination pushed the DNC out of the national spotlight on all the TV talk-shows — and this less than a dozen hours after Barack Obama had delivered the speech of a lifetime at Invesco Field at Mile High.

And who was the primary party pooper for Colorado? A Coloradan, it turns out. Twenty-one-year-old Adam Brickley, who was interviewed on Fox & Friends early this morning, was a student at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs in early 2007 when he started researching Republican officials, discovered Palin, and started www.palinforvp.blogspot.com — which went from a couple thousand hits a day to more than 350,000 yesterday. But as he notes on his most recent post, the real thrill was getting a call last night from Todd and Sarah Palin.

We applaud your enterprise, Adam. Now, where’s the aspirin? — Patricia Calhoun
