Have you caught World Cup fever — and are you looking for somewhere awesome to view the 2010 final on Sunday? Look no further: The British Bulldog (2052 Stout Street) and the Colorado Rapids (who hosted the largest free outdoor soccer viewing event in the region when they screened the inaugural June 12 U.S. vs. England game to between 2,000 and 2,500 fans) are going to set up camp on Stout Street between Broadway and 21st Street starting at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
They’ll raise an outdoor television screen and provide public restrooms and food and drink points-of-sale for the game, which starts at 12:30 p.m. our time — but feel free to show up early and debate whether the Netherlands or Spain will take home the bragging rights this time around.
Will any of Denver’s professional soccer players be there? “It’s gonna be tight,” says Rapids spokesman Kieran Cain. “We’ve probably got a couple of guys coming, but we have a game the day before in Toronto, so we’ll be traveling back. We don’t want to promise anything.”
Admission is free; just bring your beer money and your game face — and some money for parking if you don’t manage to snag one of the free Sunday street meters; the only parking available for the game will be street parking and pay lots that charge around $4 on weekends.
