Moments from now, President Barack Obama is expected to introduce Sonia Sotomayor as his choice for the Supreme Court, replacing retiring jurist David Souter. And while she may be an unknown quantity for most Coloradans, at least one of our state’s prominent residents has dealt with her in the past — and came out of the experience worse for the wear. In 1995, as a U.S. District Judge, Sotomayor issued an injunction against Major League Baseball owners for violating labor law in its dealings with striking players. Among the key members of the owners’ negotiating team: then-Colorado Rockies owner Jerry McMorris.
Of course, this year’s Rockies don’t need Sotomayor to rule against them. Fans have been doing that for themselves.
