Do not pass go.

Can’t get arrested any other way? Why not bring the crime right to the police — right to the jail, even!

Political protesters may have been in the sights of thousands and thousands of riot-gear clad cops and Secret Service agents during the Democratic National Convention last week, but it was Kurt Grimmelmann in Boulder who really got their attention.

Shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday, August 30, Boulder County Jail deputies heard someone breaking windows in a jail parking lot. When they went out to investigate, they found Grimmelmann, 24, inside a police transport van, according to news stories.

The windows of the van had been smashed, along with the windows of two patrol cars and another police vehicle. Grimmelmann was combative when he was arrested, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said; he was arrested and charged with assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and first-degree criminal trespass.
