Born in the age of MySpace, the Cool Kids (playing tonight at the Fox Theatre with 1984 and DJ Low Key) have long outlasted the ill-fated music site’s relevance, as the duo continues to persevere with its smooth style. A big part of this longevity is that the Chicago dudes have always repped a throwback sound, dropping pager and Coolie High references between syrupy hooks and big bass beats.
After several years on the back burner, the duo’s long-awaited release, When Fish Ride Bicycles, finally arrived early this month, and speaks to the Kids’ likable diversity, with appearances by Travis Barker, Bun B and more. This show is all-ages, and tickets are $20-$25. Doors open at 8:30 p.m., and acts begin at 9.
