Though our rather tepid winter has finally been knocked on its ass by below-zero temperatures, it’s hardly an excuse to stay inside. Even if school closed or you found it impossible to get into the office today, think of the warmth a little womp-womp could provide.
Tonight, local dubstep collective Sub.Mission presents the first installment of a month-long series of DJ battles at Cervantes’. Headlined each Tuesday by a Sub.Mission resident — this week it’s Dodger — the event gives up-and-comers a chance on the decks to showcase what they’ve got.
Here’s how it works: Each DJ has a thirty-minute slot at the beginning of the night, from 9 to 11 p.m. Club-goers are asked to sign in for which DJ they came to see, and matched up with the general response of the audience, the top hype-drawer will get a longer set later in the evening.
You don’t have to know a DJ, however, to warm yourself with a little bass — so shake the icicles our of your hair and get your brap on with Sub.Mission. The event is free for those 21 and up, and $5 for those under.
