While it’s cool seeing in the Flaming Lips in larger venues like Red Rocks that hold around 9,500 people, it’s whole other experience seeing them at an intimate spot like the Belly Up Aspen, which holds around 400. Last year’s show at the Belly Up was pretty damn epic, yet on a smaller scale, and when the band returns on Tuesday, December 27, it should be in the same ballpark if you’re willing to shell out $165 for general admission or $375 for reserved tickets. Local act Vitamins have been tapped to open the show for the second year in a row.

The Lips also recently collaborated with Yoko Ono and the Plastic Ono Band on “Atlas Eets Christmas,” and have also set up a site to hear “Infinite Christmas Sounds,” which is streaming around the clock.
