A feature-laden compilation from Spoke in Wordz, Power of Wordz is one of the more innovative projects to come out of the hip-hop community so far this year. Essentially a collaboration between Spoke and his favorite artists, Power shines on the strength of the MC’s rugged flow over diverse production. On each song, he expresses his admiration for his fellow MCs by mirroring or matching their flow. On “Find Him,” for instance, he employs the staccato and stuttered flow of SP Double, and on “Cry for Me,” one of the best cuts on the album, he matches the depth and warmth of Mane Rok’s voice. Elsewhere, “Fight Night,” the track featuring Prime Element’s A.V.I.U.S., has club banger written all over it, and Spoke is at his lyrical best on this joint. On the downside, at a heavy 22 tracks, there are some parts that should have been left on the cutting-room floor. Even so, Wordz is a solid effort overall.
