The Lonely Kid Show, the latest effort from Pries, has four acts, starting with the song “Curtains,” which kicks off with a slowed melody straight from the circus and leads into Pries’s dropping some introspective rhymes about his rise to fame from sleeping on the streets. For the most part, Pries stays true to the formula that has worked for him on past projects — namely, lacing hard beats with catchy hooks and heartfelt, sometimes anti-social rhymes. He also does some singing here, on cuts like “Wino Problems.” The Lonely Kid Show‘s standout track, “You Know, I Know,” is the most radio-friendly tune of the bunch, and it showcases Pries for what he is: one of the more interesting and talented MCs in the local game, who is perfectly poised to take things to the next level.
