The Hive, which opened near the end of May, closed earlier this week following a fatal shooting outside the club this past weekend. Stoney Jesseph and Will Trautman, who own Stoney’s Bar and Grill next door, are reportedly taking over spot and plan to open it as Krewe sometime before February. Trautman says it will be more of a food-driven and cocktail-driven restaurant, and the idea is to make it a big open space and home for New Orleans Saints fans and other southern sports teams.

The space at 1109 Lincoln Street has been home to a few different dance clubs over the years, including Sutra, which opened in 2006, Left on Lincoln and the short-lived Donkey Den before that. When we spoke with owner Mark Strazisar just before opening the bee-themed Hive last May, he said he was going for a “collective of energy” concept and wanted the club to have the same big feel as a giant night club like Beta while still being a step above a lounge.
