Super Dope is not so much a compilation album as it is a collaborative effort by the members of the Super Dope crew, combining Boy Davey’s beats, A. Fox’s mellow flow and Bigg Jeff’s determined gruffness. Jeff’s rhymes stand out and complement Fox’s singing and the melodic tone of his raps. Both MCs turn in impressive performances on “Beastmode” — the most tightly produced track, with its stuttered double-timed drums — while Jeff struts away with the song “I’m Fly,” in which he compares how fly he is to hawks and dragons via a Young Jeezy-esque flow. This record is listenable, distinctive and, more to the point, just plain dope.
