Sizzling hot off the wire: Just received word that Green Day will be bringing its 21st Century Breakdown tour to Denver on Saturday, August 15. The tour kicks off on Friday, July 3, in Seattle, and will mark the act’s first roadwork in more than three years. And it’s been even longer than that since the band had a new studio album. Early reports on Breakdown — the follow-up to 2004’s American Idiot, which the outfit has been working on with Butch Vig since 2006 and is due in stores on Friday, May 15 — is that the album contains some of Green Day’s finest work yet. No word yet on which venue the act will be performing at, but we’ll keep you posted.

Update (04/29/09): This show is reportedly slated to happen at the Pepsi Center.
