Last Friday, Green Russell, 1422 Larimer Street, the sexy new subterranean addition to Frank Bonanno’s expanding group of restaurants, opened to the public. And on the first night of business, a constant stream of people flowed through the pie shop kitchen door, filling the bar and tables in the low-lit digs for cocktails and bar snacks.
Now, that pie shop front is functional, too. Wednesday’s Pie opened this morning at 11 a.m.
The tiny foyer features a pie counter with an antique register and specials listed on a chalkboard menu. On opening day, pumpkin, caramel apple and banana cream pie made the list, all available with homemade whipped cream. Bring cash, though, because credit cards aren’t accepted.
While you can only pick up pies at Wednesday’s Pie from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays, you can sample them Thursday through Sunday at Green Russell.
