If you’re still trying to figure out what to do tonight, you might want to ingest some culture and pick up some tickets to the booze-themed Mixed Taste lecture tonight at MCA Denver.

These tag team talks always feature a couple of experts on seemingly unrelated topics, and tonight is no exception. Paul Andersen, faculty member at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and founder of Indie Architecture, will kick things off with observations on suburbia. After that, Boulder-based distiller Rob Masters, who makes Rob’s Mtn Gin, will take the stage and drop wisdom on American gin (which is very different, by the way, from the juniper-heavy London dry style). And to hammer home his points, he’ll preside over a tasting that’ll feature a juniper distillate, a botanical distillate and gin, served straight up with no ice.

To get tickets to the event, which starts with a 6 p.m. reception, visit the MCA Denver website. The lectures wrap up after a couple of hours, which gives you plenty of time to continue testing your new knowledge of American gin at one of the bars nearby that can pour you comparative drinks: Colt & Gray, Vesta Dipping Grill, Linger or Green Russell.
