The next generation in mobile food has arrived: In California this week, the Roving Mammoth hit the slopes at Mammoth Mountain, using a snowcat-like base to bring burritos and beverages to skiers all over the hill.
The all-terrain vehicle was designed by a longtime member of Mammoth Mountain operations and will be used to serve hungry skiers in areas of the resort where they don’t have easy access to food — though being able to lunch while skiing will probably draw plenty of fans, whether they’re close to a lodge or not.
Now we’re wondering why we don’t have similar service in the Colorado Rockies. With all the food trucks that rolled into Denver this year and all the ski areas in this state, it seems like SOMEONE should have built one of these things — or at least should have it in the works.
We’d even brave terrible holiday weekend I-70 closures to patronize it.
