About a year and a half ago, Jeff and Leah McEachern converted their Boulder space at 946 Pearl Street from a wine-making operation into the Blending Cellar, a wine bar that, despite live music and a prime spot on the west end of downtown Boulder’s busiest street, remained pretty quiet most nights of the week.

Three months ago, the couple decided to move back to California, and they sold the spot to Ralph Reutimenn, a native of Switzerland who moved to Boulder from Arizona.

And after a full renovation, Reutimenn is breathing new life into the space, unveiling a new concept called Cuvée.

“It’ll still be a wine bar,” says Reutimenn, “but we’ve upgraded it, and we’ll have more selections. And we’ll have live music from 7 to 10, six nights a week.”

That music will be mostly live jazz, thanks to the baby grand piano the new owner has installed in the space.

Initially, Reutimenn will offer snacks — mostly bistro fare with cheese dishes and high-end desserts, which will pair with the thirty by-the-glass selections he plans on pouring — and in February, he’ll roll out additional dishes.

The wine bar is slated to open around December 15. For more information, dial 303-447-0475.
