Yesterday, after a few days of soft openings and friends-and-family dinners, Udi’s Pizza, Cafe & Bar opened in the former Encore space in the Lowenstein CulturePlex. The brightly remodeled restaurant, which flaunts an open kitchen displaying a tiled, wood-fired pizza oven, a blue-and-camel-hued dining room bedecked with maple accents, C-shaped booths, banquettes and wooden tables, and a bar with keg wines, beers, cocktails and a juicing station, showcases chef Robin Bar-on in the kitchen, and her menu — a catchall of pizza, Israeli and Mediterranean dishes (the Jerusalem chicken is absolutely superb), and vegetarian offerings — already feels like it fits seamlessly into the neighborhood. Here’s a first look at what Bar-on is dishing out and what her bartenders are pouring.
