Now that my kid’s favorite Old School Burgers location has fallen victim to the economy, we’ve been hunting for a new burger palace. More to the point, we’ve been scouting a burger joint where my kid will actually eat a burger without gagging. He’s weird like that.

Anyway, as those of you in burgerville already know, those of us at Westword have an unhealthy obsession with Park Burger, the upscale burger barn at 1890 South Pearl Street run by Jean Phillippe Failyau. And now, at least for me, that dependency has multiplied — for multiple reasons.

First, they’ve expanded their hours to include breakfast, which means you can now show up between 8 and 11 a.m. for coffee, fresh-squeezed orange juice and a fat sandwich with eggs, ham or bacon, cheese, jalapenos, caramelized onions and even guacamole, if that’s what gets you moving in the morning.

In addition, the burger shed has added a weekday happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. with $3 draft beers and $4 house wines, plus a Monday-night deal where sliders are a just a buck fifty each and Session beers are $2. About those sliders: They’re the newest addition to the menu, and if you’re a fan of the sliders at White Castle, you’ll fall hard for these, too.
