“Things are starting to look pretty official,” says the caption under the Facebook photograph of the wooden sign hanging at Oak at Fourteenth, 1400 Pearl Street in Boulder.

Official, indeed. After months of planning and renovations, the restaurant, a venture of Colorado Bartenders’ Guild president and Frasca Food & Wine alum Bryan Dayton, Frasca and Jean-Georges alum Steve Redzikowski and former beverage distributor Annie Polk, is ready to open to the public.

The trio set out to create a cozy neighborhood restaurant, a place where diners in the Boulder Valley could come for upscale twists on North American classics paired with a cocktail or a glass of wine. Many dishes on the menu are prepared by a wood-fired grill that burns, as the restaurant’s name suggests, oak.

Oak at 14th opens tonight at 5:30 p.m. Next Monday, it will begin serving lunch, and the following week, the restaurant will start turning out a late-night menu.
