It’s been the summer of frozen yogurt, and we’ve seen several shops open around town, most of which are the self-serve pay-by-the-ounce variety that offer dozens of flavors of yogurt plus a melange of toppings.

Nova Yogurt is just that kind of shop, and it opened a couple of weeks ago in the DU neighborhood.

The spot — which is decorated in electric hues of orange, yellow and green and holds a University Boulevard address close to the University of Denver’s sprawling campus — offers sixteen different yogurt flavors a day, which rotate with availability. The shop’s recent offerings have included New York cheesecake, banana cream and red velvet cake batter, plus mango and kiwi sorbets and classic varieties like chocolate and vanilla. Once you’ve chosen your yogurt, you can accessorize it with fifty different toppings, which include everything from coconut strips to fresh fruit to candy.

And no matter what you add to your perfect yogurt sundae, you’ll pay 39 cents an ounce. Not particularly novel at this point, but delicious, nonetheless.
