MiniBar opened in Cherry Creek nearly three years ago, when Bill Ward, the Denver club owner who once ran now-defunct Below Bar and Slim 7 in Larimer Square, picked up the space below the old Village Inn and installed a lounge.
In 2010, he expanded his hours to capture more than just the late-night scene, adding coffee and a menu of tapas to the concept.
But MiniBar closed at the end of last year, and while there were hints it might reopen, it wasn’t to be. “There was a sign up that read, ‘closed for renovations’ for the month of January,” an employee at a nearby business explains. “Then they came and took the MiniBar sign down and left.”
The papered-over windows give the illusion that something new may be going into the club’s space, but the nearby employee says that’s not true. “They’re going to take down and rebuild this building sometime in the near future,” she explains. “There’s nothing going in.”
