Denverites certainly aren’t lacking when it comes to fast-casual options. In fact, our city has spawned chains ranging from Chipotle to Smashburger, which have gone not just national but international. Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill, a quick Mediterreanean concept founded by Alon Mor seven years ago, has brought falafel, pita, grilled meats and tons of sides to suburban strip malls throughout the metro area, as well as a few spots around the country. But the newest store is right on the 16th Street Mall, where it’s added breakfast dishes to the lineup.

The new Garbanzo, at 16th and Market Street, opened yesterday, and includes breakfast wraps and bowls with its standard options — chicken, steak, gyros, portobello mushrooms and falafel — plus scrambled eggs and potatoes. There are also a few grab-and-go items, including fruit cups, Greek yogurt parfaits and oatmeal. Garbanzo’s newest location also showcases a fresh interior look, with more natural wood and a brighter, more modern order counter. “This is an opportunity that not all Colorado businesses get,” says Bob Bafundo, vice president of company and franchise operations, “and we are thrilled to be able to call the 16th Street Mall home.”

Garbanzo now has 28 franchises and corporate-owned locations in eight states. The newest Denver spot is only the second in the nation to serve breakfast; the location in the Atlanta airport introduced it last year.
