Everyone knows about the drunk guy at the party who ends up with a lamp shade on his head. At the newly remodeled 1515 Restaurant, there’s already a fetching woman with a lamp shade on her head, as well as two absolutely perfect breasts just below — captured in a photograph by local artist Pamela Mougin. There may not be much you can do about your own breasts, but if you’re looking for a cocktail that might inspire you to don a lamp shade, try the Crimson Martini ($9.50), a scary combination of Bombay Sapphire, Ruby Red Port, lime and grenadine. Seeing the list of ingredients, you might think such a martini would be undrinkable — but it actually tastes very good, like sangria with a floral, juniper-berry finish. The cocktail is also a beautiful dark crimson, which means you need to be careful if you’re drinking it near clumsy friends or a pristine white lamp shade. Less dangerous — from a stain standpoint — is the Tuaca Lime Pie Martini ($9.50), made with Tuaca, Stoli Vanil and pineapple juice, shaken with muddled lime and sugar, and “yummy in a sweet, kind of girly way,” my companion noted. Pick a spot at the bar — the new bench below the wall of photos is particularly inviting — and toast to 1515’s careful update of both its drink offerings and decor, lamp shades included.
