Java junkies, rejoice! Rather than pay a hefty rent increase, Common Grounds left its original home on West 32nd Avenue at the end of April, with hopes of reopening a version of the two-decade-old coffeeshop in Common Grounds’s roasting facility at 2139 West 44th Avenue a month later. The project took longer to brew than anticipated — but the sun broke through on the Sunnyside location last week, and Common Grounds started pouring again on August 8.
Photographer Danielle Lirette, who’d covered the last day at the original Common Grounds, went back to capture the feel of the new space. Keep reading for a taste.
