Q: I’m new to Denver and would like to pop the question in a downtown restaurant that overlooks the city. Is there a fine-dining place with a great view?

A: For all the great views Denver offers, a good one of its own downtown from an equally good restaurant is a rarity. The Fort (19192 Highway 8, Morrison, 303-697-4771), an Old West-themed eatery, has a magnificent view of downtown’s lights ‹ but it’s a drive. The rooftop of the downtown Tamayo (1400 Larimer Street, 720-946-1433), a very upscale Mexican spot, looks out across the Auraria campus to the foothills and the mountains beyond ‹ but it could be a little chilly there right now. Your best bet might be the ultra-romantic Tante Louise (4900 East Colfax Avenue, 303-355-4488), which offers a view only of its gorgeous dining rooms, but where many a Denverite has jumped into the abyss.
