Standard Films will show its latest snowboarding film, 2112, today, and the local premiere marks a bit of a milestone, says Adam Schmidt, editor-in-chief of Snowboard Colorado, the presenting sponsor. “Twenty-one films! In the world of snowboarding videos, it’s the longest run there is. Here’s a snowboard film series that’s old enough to drink, so we thought we’d throw a proper party.”
That party also includes the local premiere of People Films’ Pretty Wise and Chainsaw Productions’ The Miserable Champion, a documentary about snowboarder Shaun Palmer. “I’m stoked about the lineup of riders for each of these films this year, and I’m especially stoked to see some of the sick backcountry stuff and big-mountain freeride footage after seeing a lot of urban-jib stuff at some of the other premieres so far this season,” Schmidt says. “But mostly I’m looking forward to the party: We love the vibe over at Summit Music Hall. It’s a really good party environment.”
The all-ages party kicks off tonight at 8 p.m. at Summit Music Hall, 1902 Blake Street. Athletes including Kimmy Fasani and Tim Humphreys will be among the VIPs in attendance, along with many of the folks behind each of the film crews. Count on lots of swag being given away. Tickets are $10 at lodolivemusic.com or at the door.
