At Bras for a Cause, the featured lingerie pieces aren’t boring old underthings. They’ve been transformed into art.

“Some of the bras are really beautiful, but most are absolutely outrageous,” says Lucinda Wayland Connelly, president of Soroptimist International of Denver, which is hosting the event to benefit Gilda’s Club Denver, a cancer support organization.

There’s the “Mardi Bra,” a wedding-dress bra, a bra doubling as a floral basket, and even a bra by local artist Paul Cunningham, who used it as a canvas to replicate the oil painting he donated to the silent auction. We can only imagine the bra that sponsor Curbside Cabinets is creating…something with doors, perhaps? Or a peek-a-boo number?

You can check out all the creations at a wine-and-cheese viewing reception this afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. at the glamorous Cableland, 4150 Shangri-La Drive. Tickets are $35; contact Lucinda at 303-909-8555 or www.soroptimist.org for information.
Sun., May 20, 1-4 p.m.
