Mountain Standard, a new show opening this Friday, April 8, at Modbo Gallery (17C Bijou E. Street) in Colorado Springs is local effort on several levels. Curated by a newly formed collective of Colorado-based gallery owners and artists called Build A Fort, the juried exhibition will also exclusively feature artists from across the front range.

With Mountain Standard, Build A Fort chose artists whose work best represented regional trends specific to contemporary art in Colorado. The show will feature work by Atomic Elroy, Lindsay Hand, Mario Zoots and more, delving into the topics of wildlife, geography, and personal reflections on living in and around the Rocky Mountains.

Mountain Standard — which will feature video installations, oil paintings, collage work and more — opens this Friday, April 8 at Modbo, with a reception from 5:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. and a musical performance from Dear Rabbit at 9 p.m. The exhibition will stay at Modbo until May 6, when it will travel to various venues across the state. For more information on the show and the Build A Fort collective, visit www.mtnstandard.com.
