The popular television series MythBusters is known for its hosts’ love of explosions. But the show is about more than just dangerous experiments; it’s about questioning everything and using science to find the truth. That’s what you’ll have a chance to do at MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition, a hands-on exploration of the science behind myths, at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.
“One thing that people sometimes misunderstand about the MythBusters is that they think that they’re just out to blow things up — and they do blow a lot of things up — but a big part of what they do is investigate things scientifically,” explains Brian Hostetler, educator and exhibit coordinator. “They’re really thinking about the whole process. They’re eliminating variables, they’re testing new variables, they’re trying out a bunch of different ways to make the myth work.”
The exhibition, which includes interactive experiments and props from the show, opens today at the museum, 2001 Colorado Boulevard, and runs through January 5. Timed-entry tickets are $22 for adults and $16 for kids; advance reservations are recommended. For more information, visit dmns.org/mythbusters.
