Cabarets were edgy ten years ago; these days, they’re just the latest craze folded in with burlesque and fire-hooping. But there are still some weird and wonderful cabarets out there — including some that risk divine wrath. That’s the family from which Hell Toupee Cabaret hails: “Come for an evening of eternal damnation and still be home by ten,” reads the tagline.

Host Infernal Phil, who is part of Dangerous Theatre’s rotating cast, joins Demi Urge and the Rimshots Jazz Combo with magicians, stage combat, dance corps and more; general admission is $5.

“It’s difficult to describe in words,” notes Dangerous Theatre’s Winnie Wenglewick. “The jazz trio provides the backbone of it all, and it has everything from song to dance to standup comedy.”

The cabaret runs tonight (and on the fourth Thursday of every month) at 7:30 p.m. at Denver’s Dangerous Theatre, 2620 West Second Avenue, #1; visit www.dangeroustheatre.com.
Fourth Thursday of every month, 7:30 p.m. Starts: June 28. Continues through Sept. 26, 2012
