Snow isn’t the only reason to head for the hills — especially this year. The Beaver Creek Food & Wine Weekend kicks off from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening with a cocktail reception meet-and-greet at the Mountainside Bar & Grill at the Park Hyatt, and continues through Saturday with cooking demonstrations, seminars and tastings, where you’ll be snowed by celeb chefs ranging from John Besh, Tim Love and Marc Murphy to Stephanie Izard, Lachlan MacKinnon-Patterson and Richard Sandoval. The final event is the Food & Wine Grand Tasting gala, from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday in the Gerald R. Ford Hall; Cat Coughran, director of events and sponsorship for the Beaver Creek Resort Company, says that Izard will be cooking up goat chili, Love will be making smoked-brisket-stuffed piquillo peppers with bone broth and cotija cheese, and Besh will be preparing jalapeno cheese grits with green onion and shrimp gravy.
Events will be held at various locations at Beaver Creek, which is off I-70 at exit 167; ticket prices range from $75 to $936 (VIP package). For more information, visit www.beavercreek.com.
