Since so much of Colorado’s identity is wrapped up in craft breweries, it only makes sense to close out the summer with a gathering of the tribes at the Vine Street Pub’s Uptown Block Party and Brewers Olympics. The seven-hour event will pit notables like the Wynkoop, Breckenridge, Odell and Great Divide against one another in a series of humbling games.
“Each brewery puts together a two-person team, and they have to do things like tricycle races or move a ton of grain blindfolded,” says Vine Street co-owner Paul Nashak. “Last year was the first time we did it, and it was a blast. We had over 4,000 people show up throughout the day.”
With twelve brewers competing–and donating 35 varieties of beer–the party raises funds for the political-awareness group, New Era Colorado. Ticket holders will also be graced with a performance by String Cheese Incident’s Keith Moseley, as well as an award ceremony.
First pour begins at 1 p.m. at the pub, 1700 Vine Street. Admission is free, with pints going for $5. For more information, visit www.mountainsunpub.com.
