One of my favorite First Friday diversions is the monthly mini-shop hosted by clay sculptor Marie Ev.B Gibbons at her cozy EvB Studio Collection, nestled next door to the Oriental Theater, at 4343 West 44th Avenue. Gibbons invites art strollers to stop in and create a different miniature clay work each month: Past projects include tiny spring bulbs, baby faces, birds, bugs and more, each formed in a mold, left at the shop for firing and ready to pick up a week or so later, all for a small $10 fee.

Gibbons says she has a few regulars who show up every month, but if you missed one — or, like the most of the world at large, hadn’t even heard about it until now — she’s added a Mini-Shops Make-Up today from noon to 4 p.m., where anyone can have a second chance to make any or all of the previous mini-shop objects. The price is the same — $10 per object — as is the routine. For details, call 720-234-7337 or go to www.evbstudio.com.
Sat., Aug. 25, 12-4 p.m.
