Boulder’s weekly downtown farmers’ market has a reputation for being one of the region’s best, but today (and on one select Saturday monthly, continuing though October) it turns into a bona fide street festival. Along with the market’s fresh produce, flowers and prepared foods, there’s Restaurant Fresh Connections food sampling and chef demos nearby at One Boulder Plaza and the time-honored Boulder Farmers’ Market Fine Art and Fine Craft Fair, a stand-alone spread in Boulder Central Park that’s modeled — in spirit — on the next-door produce bazaar.
“We have Colorado artists there selling their art, just like we have local farmers selling their foods,” says spokeswoman Karen Diamond. “There’s art, trees, shade… Nobody walks away disappointed.”
Like the market and cooking demos, the fair is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Boulder market’s sister event in Longmont will also host its own artisan markets from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 28, August 25 and September 29, at the Boulder County Fairgrounds.
