When is a Wiffle ball more than just a Wiffle ball? When it’s a light object created by lighting artist Chris Armijo.

You can catch Armijo’s work — unexpected light installations that link together mass-produced items — alongside furniture by graphic and industrial designer Dan Sjogren, who “stitches” flat sheets of wood into simple and elegant creations, in a new exhibit titled Stitch + Linkage/Sjogren + Armijo.

The show will be the third for the new Hinterland Gallery, 3254 Walnut Street, which opened in the RiNo district last March. It will be the first artistic showing for Sjorgen, though he’s a lifelong designer; both he and Armijo take experimental and creative approaches to their spare, modern designs. Stitch + Linkage opens tonight with a gallery reception from 7 to 10 p.m. and stays up through June 28; call Hinterland at 720-309-1764 for more information.
