Spark, one of the city’s oldest alternative art spaces, will present a variety of print work from Front Range artists in the Spark Gallery Print Show, which opens today and continues through December 7. The gallery snagged famed master printer Bud Shark to jury the exhibit, which will put upwards of thirty pieces of art on display.
For more than thirty years, Shark, of Lyons-based Shark’s Ink, has printed the work of some of the art world’s most widely recognized talents. He likes to pick artists with a unique style and personal statement, which is something he looked for in the Spark submissions.
“I like to see a broad range of technique, styles and new approaches,” Shark says. “This is a good chance to see what printmakers are doing. It’s also a good opportunity for printmakers to display their work.”
A free opening reception will be held tomorrow from 6 to 9 p.m. at the gallery, 900 Santa Fe Drive; for more information, call 720-889-2200 or visit www.sparkgallery.com.
