Last week we rounded up a dozen restaurants that have lasted at least fifty years in the same family’s hands. Compared to those long runs, the Wazee Supper Club is a relative newcomer: It just celebrated its fortieth birthday. And it changed hands more than a decade ago, moving from founder Angelo Karagas to the Wynkoop group.

That means it’s not the same place, says DenverDave:
Sorry, guys — you can’t count the Wazee’s years in business and include the ones since it was corporatized. Not the same Wazee — you should have had to change the name because it bears no resemblance to the little bar where I had my first adult beverage in Denver in 1974. I don’t mean that in a good way. Breckenridge-Wynkoop and the Little Pub Group are buying and ruining all the best old-school bars in Denver. Sad.
