Ye olde square Denver Public Library has been upping its hipness quotient lately, what with all those fancy cooking classes and frequent media appearances of that strange leafy coat (designed by staffer Chris Loffelmacher) that Mayor Hickenlooper donned for Earth Day. The DPL’s latest marketing move — a decidedly low-tech but bitchin’ video on YouTube featuring a giant furry cat and other critters cavorting around the central library, promoting the summer reading program — is a wonderfully paradoxical effort to reach today’s printphobic teens.
