In the Best of Denver 2011, we named Common Grounds the Best Coffeehouse for Finding a Date, thanks to the constant crowd of young professionals who mingle there over cappuccinos. And because we’re big proponents of ditching online dating and blind set-ups every now and then in favor of meeting people the old-fashioned way — that is to say, face-to-face — every Friday, we’re bringing you a Denver spot that we think is particularly conducive for finding available members of the dating pool.
This weekend, we think you should get yourself down to the corner of 17th and Vine, where three good options await, each with a different flirtation potential.
During the daytime — or if you’re seeking a studious type — head to St. Mark’s Coffeehouse, where an eclectic crowd posts up with laptops and books. Your opening? You’re almost definitely going to have to share a table… so pick a good one. Then make sure your eyes meet for a lingering second, and you’re in.
At night, you’ve got a choice. If your type wears skinny jeans and reads a lot of philosophy, your best bet is the Thin Man, where just that crowd fills the dark bar, chatting over drinks at high tables and on back couches. Come armed with a literary line or an obscure film reference.

On the other hand, if you dig flannel and flip flops, then it’s better to go across the street to Vine Street Pub, where life is like a constant ultimate frisbee after party. Lawn games, occasional live music and lots and lots of beer will provide a plethora of opportunities to chat someone up.
