Calling all rebel girls and rude boys! Tonight’s Punk Rock Karaoke is a sing-along with a circle pit tailor-made for you. A traveling collection of studio-recorded karaoke tracks, the Punk Rock Karaoke Collective brings classics by Bikini Kill, the Clash, Descendents and more to the stage for a night where anyone can be the frontman or -woman they’ve always dreamed of being.
“From what I’ve seen, we have the largest custom catalog of over 500 punk-rock songs that are recorded like regular karaoke,” says Patrick Tyrrell, co-organizer of the collective.
The Chicago-based group was born in 2011 out of a desire by musicians to put a new spin on fundraising — which is why every edition of Punk Rock Karaoke benefits a different nonprofit or DIY-minded organization.
The donation-based event starts at 7 p.m. at the Denver Community Health Collective, 2727 West 27th Avenue; proceeds benefit the DCHC (suggested donation is $5 to $10). For more information, visit Punk Rock Karaoke’s Facebook page for the Denver event.
