Denver has a Second Saturday, and though it often seems to take a back seat to First Friday, the alternative art-night has its advantages. You won’t have to elbow your way through crowds of sidewalk revelers, hawkers and buskers to get to the art, and you’ve also had a day’s reprieve from the rat race of the work-week. Here are a couple of September 14 Second Saturday openings that you can walk into this weekend with a clear mind and fresh eyes.

Delgany Sreet & 15th Street, opening with a reception from 7 to 10 p.m. September 14 at Groundswell Gallery, offers a look at LoDo before it had a name, as caught in the ’80s through the lens of photographer Kim Allen. The landscape Allen presents is a far cry from the clubbing zone that is LoDo today, shot in black and white and with a keen appreciation for architecture and details.
