Deluxe Burger officially closed its doors last Sunday so co-owner Dylan Moore could focus on his pair of South Broadway restaurants, Deluxe and Delite. But if you missed your opportunity to get in there and say good bye, you’ve got another chance: The burger joint, located next door to Mod Lovin’, will reopen briefly during the furniture store’s Best In Show Puppy Auction this Saturday night.
“They’re opening for the puppy auction to provide food to go with the beverages,” explains Erick Roorda, who owns Mod Livin’ with his wife, Jill, who also owns Deluxe Burgers. “It’s a farewell party for them. The price point will be around $5.”
The puppy auction, during which the furniture showroom sells off artist-decorated dog figures during a silent and live auction to benefit the Foothills Animal Shelter, runs from 6 to 9 p.m.; Deluxe Burger will open at 4 p.m.
As for who might take that space next, the Roordas say they are talking to four restaurateurs, all of whom already have one Denver restaurant. “They’re all great restaurants,” says Jill. “We’re really excited about it.”
