About a year ago, the Wash Park Underground opened on Downing Street in the alley below Mecca Grill. That spot, which sought to turn the address into one that was more savory than previous tenants, featured Foosball, shuffleboard, art by local artists, craft beer taplines and bar food served late.
It didn’t last — Wash Park Underground recently shuttered, and Wash Park Sports Alley has opened in its place.
The new restaurant is a sports bar with flowing beer — including several local selections — and a menu of typical sports bar fare, including burgers, wings and tacos plus some decidedly more upscale choices, like a quinoa burger and a pulled pork sandwich.
Owner Greg Grzesik has preserved the Foosball table and jukebox, and he’s putting the eleven TVs to use by featuring sporting events around the country. And you can watch those while partaking in one of the spot’s numerous drink specials, which run every day of the week.
