It was just over a year ago when the former Café Cafe at 2339 West 44th Avenue in the Sunnyside neighborhood became La Crema Cafeteria, but when we drove by it this morning, the windows were covered with brown paper, and a sign read, “closed until mid-April for remodeling.”
But it seems that more than an aesthetic change is in the works.
La Crema was owned by Ulises Santiago, who was once the chef at Red Tango. But we hear Santiago sold the spot last week, and it will reopen under the name Hash.
We’ll post more details here when we get them.
