Let’s face it: It’s a new year, the weather hasn’t been so great and the recent spate of snowstorms delivered a below-the-belt punch not only to small retailers, but to galleries counting on the bounty of the season. The folks at the Chicano Humanities and Arts Council, 772 Santa Fe Drive, have decided to fight back with Pot Luck, an ongoing after-Christmas sale of works by member artists, featuring prices worthy of an “Is that for real?” double take.
“People were wanting to start the year off fresh and maybe sell off what didn’t sell in shows last year,” says CHAC director Crystal O’Brien — but these works aren’t second-shelf: Choose from paintings, both figurative and abstract, sandblasted objects, monoprints, photography, whimsical works and more, all priced under $100 and some as low as $10 or $15.
The sale continues at CHAC through January 27; while you’re there, take a peek at the recently donated santos collection of Mr. Jack Keeve next door at CHAC Norte. For information, call 303-571-0440 or visit www.chacweb.org.
